I have been corresponding with a parishioner of yours her name is Nicole Phillips and her grandmother is very sick and needs some financial help to get the treatment she needs to recover they may also need some financial help until Nicole can get back to work. I have only known her for a short time but I believe she feels very alone and needs help. Please contact her and give her the support she needs. I am trying to help her but I can only do so much financially I pray for her and granny daily. I care for her a lot.

This is a very special Church to me. My Grandma used to take my mum to church when she was young. My mum was in the hospital in Phoenix for a long time. She geo a card from a good friend of hers it had come from the church. The friend that sent this had gone there to see the church and decided to get a card from him to her he is not RC and does not live near the church but deciede to come. When I read the car to my mum and told her it was from the Hidden Gem she smiled from ear to ear as it made her think that her Mother was watching over her. I now have a mug that the same friend of my mums sent me it is beautiful and means the world to me. What a beautiful Church this is.

Thank you for this website. I would like to contact St Mary's archivist if possible. I am hoping to trace my family in the baptismal records. If someone could email me back, I can pass on all the relevant details.

Thank you,

Melanie

My mother, Mabel Clifton used to be taken in secret to the Hidden Gem by her mother, Agnes Smith. Sadly Agnes died when my mother was 14 so the church was very special to her.
She told me that the church was called the Hidden Gem during the times of Catholic persecution. I wonder if that is true.
Mam died in 2005, just before her 99th birthday.
I was disappointed last week when I visited Manchester for the first time in many years only to find the church closed. I am delighted to find this website - thank you very much.
I am not a Christian but do appreciate beautiful architecture and love visiting cathedrals and churches to see the magnificent sculptures and stained windows etc.
I intend to visit again fairly soon but this time will check to ensure the church will be open first!
